According to Italy's federation of Italian machinery manufacturers' associations, Federmacchine, based on data from Italy's census bureau, ISTAT, exports of Italian machinery to Germany rose by 41.5% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2011, reaching a value of EUR 415mn (USD 587.82mn). Exports to markets outside of the EU, were noted as follows: 32.8% for the US, 62.5% for Brazil, 92% for Turkey, and 162% for South Korea, while Chinese imports of Italian machinery rose by over 36% to almost EUR 387mn. In 2010, exports accounted for 67% of the turnover, with peaks of 78% for footwear and leathergoods machinery and 88% for packaging machinery with overall production having risen by 13.3% over 2010.
