Italian Ultrasound Technology To Grow Tomatoes In Central America
Researchers from Italy’s CREA, the Council for Agricultural Research and Agricultural Economics Analysis, and the University of Milan illustrated the latest developments in crop management, business and economic models as well as the latest machinery and innovations.
Among the audience were high level representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Costa Rica, the Center for Advanced Technology, the Technological Center of Costa Rica, the National Chamber of the Cocoa Industry, and local producers of cocoa, pineapples and tomatoes which represent the largest and most export oriented agricultural crops in the country.
The program of the seminar allowed for interactions between Italian and Costa Rican industry and academia.
The ultrasound treatment for the transformation of tomatoes designed by the researchers of University of Milano was particularly well received by the Costarican growers. Furthermore a cooperation agreement for the cultivation of a type of mushroom between the National University of Costa Rica and the Italian counterparts was also reached.
