ITALIAN PARTICIPATION IN EXPO PACK - GUADALAJARA 2023
Held annually in two different cities (Città del Messico and Guadalajara), the fair is one of the Central American region's leading events for work and packaging technologies in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors.

THE PACKAGING INDUSTRY IN MESSICO

By 2022, Messico's packaging industry will be worth $19,000 million, or 2% of gross domestic product.

By the end of 2021, packaging production will reach a total of 13.8 million tons, with growth of around 4% compared to 2020.

This 4% increase is due to the growth of e-commerce, driven by Covid-19 content issues. The share of each sector in this industry has increased so that products become the most important during the pandemic, such as food and services (50%), followed by personal care and home products (15% respectively), pharmaceuticals (10%) and the remainder for other sectors.

The growth of e-commerce is one of the key factors determining demand for and use of the main by-products; the most important in card and cardboard production with just under 30%, plastics with 30%, and its impact on the circulating economy, vetro with 20% in strategic sectors such as alcoholic beverages, in addition to cosmetics and metal containers with 18%, whose main use is in soft drinks, in addition to sweets and cleaning.

In Messico, Italy ranks first among suppliers of packaging machinery, with a value of 160 million euros. The main users of this type of machine are the food and beverage sectors, followed by pharmaceuticals and body care products.

EXPO PACK 2023 (Guadalajara), organized by the PMMI Association, is expected to attract over 700 exhibitors from 20 countries, covering an area of some 15 million square meters. Visitors are expected to number 17,000, from all over Mexico and Central America. International delegations from countries other than Italy, such as Argentina, the United States, Brazil, France and Spain, to name but a few, will also be present.

Expo Pack 2023 was also an opportunity to present Messico with the new image of Machines Italia, the Italian Foreign Trade Agency's program to promote Italian machinery for the 16 most important industrial sites in North America (Messico, Canada and the United States).
