Pegaso Industries S.p.A., an Italian manufacturer of auxiliary equipment, has opened Plastic Systems USA in Atlanta with the aim of directly following and serving the local market.

The new subsidiary joins Plastic Systems Shanghai, Plastic Systems Latin America, and Plastic Systems India, which reportedly generate consolidated sales of 70 million euros ($78 million) and employ more than 4,000 people worldwide. It will help grow the local market, mainly through the introduction of auxiliary equipment for extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, and PET processing. The company has hired industry veteran Michael Smith as vice president of service sales. Smith told Plastics Technology that the new location covers more than 700 square meters of Airport Commerce Center-East Point, about 2 miles from Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Smith said that in addition to himself, the initial staff will include an administrative assistant, a service technician and a designer. The company is currently recruiting a sales manager, a technical manager, and a parts manager.

Plastic Systems USA's new facility, opening in February 2020, has a showroom, warehouse, training center, sub-assembly department, and sales support.
