Following the success of BIAT 2017 held in Catania last March and the interest expressed by both Italian SMEs and Canadian investors to explore industrial and technological partnership opportunities, ICE-Agenzia will organize an exploratory and educational mission to Canada at the upcoming conference The 2018 Western Regional Angel Summit of the NACO- National Angel Capital Organization association, which will be held in Victoria (BC) from February 21 to 23 and will be attended by about 200 investors.
On the international investment front, Canada is a net foreign investor. The trend of Canadian direct investments abroad show an increasing trend (in 2016 they amounted to more than CAD 1 trillion, about CAD 50 billion more than in 2015). Italy ranks 52nd in the ranking of destination markets for such investments. It is believed that the innovative potential expressed by the projects proposed by operators in the Convergence Regions at BIAT2017 qualifies companies in the area and candidates them for new investment from Canadians.
The initiative aims to foster the internationalization of the most innovative enterprises in the "less developed" and "transition" regions by promoting and facilitating forms of technological partnership and industrial collaboration with Canadian investors.
The mission, which also includes a stop in Toronto (ON), will consist of educational and informational seminars/workshops on existing opportunities in Canada in terms of investment in innovative products and services, pitch/presentation of Italian innovative products/projects, and B2B meetings with Canadian investors.
8 dynamic Italian start-ups, from Sardinia, Sicily and Abruzzo, will participate in the Canadian mission: Avantune S.r.l. , Green Social Bench, Luche S.r.l. ,Opera s.a.s., Tecnojest s.r.l., TOP SYSTEM, Morpheos s.r.l., TELECOM & SECURITY SRL.
