Survey of Italian Investments in Canada
ICE- Agency Toronto in collaboration with Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development and Canada's Ministry of Industry (Industry Canada) has completed a survey of the Italian presence in Canada. Starting with a database of approximately 200 Italian branches and 150 Italian direct investments, a questionnaire was drafted and submitted over the past 3 months to collect information on the type of investment, branch activity, year of establishment, initial investment, turnover, number of employees, etc. The online questionnaire can be viewed through the link(https://docs.google.com/a/ice.it/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSclI2Rx3PRxipUd7dIc8Qi6XKcWyPQTmFxuxm8D6ragSWhAlg/viewform).
Statistics Canada, the Canadian Statistical Institute, is conducting the data analysis and will prepare a mini report on the contribution of Italian businesses to the Canadian economy.
Italian FDI stock in Canada in 2014 totaled $1.3 billion (€ 968 million approx.), +2.2% compared to 2013, and accounted for 0.5% of European FDI in Canada ($251.2 billion). The total stock of foreign investment in Canada amounts to $732.3 billion. The stock of Canadian FDI to Italy is $796 million (up 17.7% from 2013) and represents 0.1% of Canada's outbound FDI.
