The National Auto Parts Industry (INA) informed that the production forecast for the end of 2024 is estimated at 126,149 million dollars, achieving a 4.90% growth compared to the end of 2023, which would be a historic record.
INA informed that exports amounted to 72,550 million dollars during the period from January to August 2024, where the United States and Canada accounted for 9 out of every 10 dollars corresponding to foreign sales.
In the period from January to August 2024, production reached 83.264 billion dollars, which represented an increase of 4.26% with respect to the same period in 2023.
According to the director of INA, in the period from January to August 2024, the northern zone of Mexico accounted for 43% of production at the national level, while the Bajío region accounted for 36.1% and the central zone for 15.6%.
These three zones reached a total production of 79,009 million dollars, equivalent to 94.9% of national production. The states with the highest production were Coahuila (14.9%), Guanajuato (13.8%), Nuevo León (12.5%), Chihuahua (8.7%) and Querétaro (8.0%), which accounted for 58% of total production.
In terms of manufacturing by type of auto parts, in first place are electrical parts (harnesses), with a 19.59% share. This is followed by the manufacture of transmissions, clutches and their parts with 9.95%; fabrics, carpets and seats with 9%; engine parts with 7.86%; and the manufacture of suspensions, steering and their parts, which represent a share of 6.65%. These five account for more than 50% of domestic parts manufacturing.
Mexico accounted for 43% of total U.S. auto parts purchases worldwide, and more than 50% in the region including Canada, which is evidence of the current integration of the regional supply chain to meet the growing market demand in North America.
