The Canadian division of the German Schaeffler Group, which specializes in bearing construction, has started a project to expand its manufacturing plant in Stratford, Ontario, which would be worth more than $13 million (10 million euros).
The investment will enable Schaeffler Canada to add two new assembly lines, purchase advanced equipment and machinery, and increase the facility's level of automation.

The expansion, which is expected to be completed by 2018, will create 44 new jobs bringing the total number of employees at the Stratford factory to more than 400.
Robert Hillstrom, CFO of Schaeffler Canada says the investment "is in response to the growing demand for high quality solutions from customers in the automotive industry."
