The Italian Printing, Graphic, and Converting Technology Award (IPGCTA) 2025 is organized by the ITA’s Chicago Office and co-sponsored in Italy by ACIMGA, the Association of Italian Manufacturers of Machinery for the Graphic, Paper, and Converting Industry (acimga.it). And this year, marks the first edition of IPGCTA to take place in the United States. The Rochester Institute of Technology has been selected as the US academic partner, having students and faculty from its related faculty programs be recognized for their research in related technologies.
The Prize: A One-week Trip to Italy On Us!: This year, the selected students and professors will be awarded a one-week trip to Italy the week of June 1st, 2025, where they will join students and professors from several countries for a full week of educational, commercial, and cultural experiences.
Submission criteria and requirements for the paper: Junior, senior, and postgraduate students at Rochester Institute of Technology participating in programs related to printing, graphic, and converting engineering disciplines may submit a paper based on real cases, projects, etc., provided they have one or more items related to at least one of the two of the following suggested topics (current academic papers related to any of the following submission criteria may also be submitted):
Explain the relationship between printing technologies and de-inking from a sustainability and recyclability point of view. What is the impact of different inks on different printed materials?
Lamination and multi-laminated materials in flexible packaging: where is the legislation at? What are the regulatory differences in the different countries across the world? What are the common aspects?
Requirements for the paper: Submitted papers should ideally be 3-4 pages (10,000 characters), typed and single-spaced. However, the length of the paper may be considered due to time constraints. Attachments such as footnotes, images, photocopied materials, source citations, statistics, etc. are allowed.

Eligibility requirements for U.S. students and faculty - if not U.S. citizens: Students and faculty, if not U.S. citizens with passports, must already have the necessary travel documents and visa eligibility to travel to Italy and must be proficient in English if not their native language.
Number of winners for the IPGCTA Program: the ITA will select up to five (5) winning U.S. students (TBD) from submitted work and, if budget allows, one (1) U.S. faculty professor will accompany the group of students.
