The Chamber of the Footwear Industry of Guanajuato (CICEG), highlighted that artificial intelligence (AI) will be key to the transformation of companies in the sector, allowing them to compete in international markets more efficiently and effectively.
The integration of AI, combined with human talent, represents the evolution towards an “industry 5.0”, where technology not only optimizes processes, but also places people at the center of innovation.
AI will enable Mexican footwear companies to improve production accuracy, optimize the supply chain and personalize the customer experience, which will promote greater competitiveness in the Mexican footwear industry.
Among the main improvements that can be introduced in the footwear production process are:
- Personalized design and product creation. Artificial Intelligence enables the design of customized products according to consumer preferences and characteristics.
- Optimize the supply chain. AI improves inventory and logistics management by being able to predict product demand based on the analysis of historical data and real-time data.
- Automated production. The use of robots and AI tools is improving efficiency in footwear production processes, reducing errors and lowering costs.
AI helps optimize the use of raw materials to minimize waste in manufacturing.
- Trend prediction. With the use of AI, brands can identify and predict trends in real time, analyzing a large amount of data from social networks, shopping patterns, customer reviews, etc.
- Improves the shopping experience. Artificial Intelligence enhances the customer experience through personalized recommendations on e-commerce platforms and in-store. Virtual assistants or chatbots can guide customers through the purchase.
- Innovations in footwear fit and comfort. Thanks to AI, brands can develop footwear that better fits the shape and size of feet.
- More targeted marketing. Marketing campaigns are also boosted by AI, as it allows more effective market segmentation and more personalized ads to be targeted to potential customers.
- Product lifecycle optimization. Artificial Intelligence allows brands to monitor the life cycle of their products, from production to end of use.
- Personalized recommendations. Artificial Intelligence is used to improve customer experience by analyzing consumer behavior (buying patterns, recent searches, preferences, etc).
Artificial Intelligence is changing different industries and sectors, including footwear. Businesses that adopt new technologies, in this case AI, are generating a competitive advantage, improving sustainability, efficiency and ability to adapt to market demands.
The adoption of these technological tools is essential for the Mexican industry to reinvent itself and face current challenges, such as rising logistics costs and unfair competition from smuggling, which have seriously affected the Mèxixo industry in recent years.
According to CICEG, the industry is expected to grow by 5% in 2025 thanks to the adoption of protectionist policies by the federal government as a defense measure against dumping practices that were carried out with the import of foreign products (especially from China) at low cost, so that the implementation of technological processes oriented to the characteristics of industry 5.0 are an ideal alternative for the necessary innovation of this industry so characteristic in Mexico.
