Silfab Solar Secures $100M Funding to Expand US-Based Solar Manufacturing Operations

Silfab Solar, based in Mississauga, ON, Canada, has secured $100 million in funding to expand its solar manufacturing operations in the United States. The investment consists of $50 million in equity funding, led by ARC Financial Corp. and supported by co-investors, as well as a $50 million Green Loan arranged through Breakwall Capital and SR Alternative Credit.

The funds will be used to scale up solar cell production at Silfab’s Fort Mill, SC facility, which is expected to be operational by the end of the year. The Green Loan, which has received an “Excellent” alignment rating from Sustainable Fitch, will help advance the company’s efforts to contribute to reshoring US-made photovoltaic (PV) modules, promoting the growth of clean energy production in the country.

Paolo Maccario, President and CEO of Silfab Solar, expressed his gratitude for the support of investors, emphasizing the increasing demand for American-made clean energy. He stated, “We are thankful for the ongoing support of our investors as we continue our mission to lead the reshoring of the PV supply chain and ensure a steady supply of domestically made PV modules.”

Daniel Flannery, President and Managing Partner of Breakwall Capital, also shared his enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to help Silfab take the lead in domestic solar cell production and contribute to the broader reshoring efforts of the US solar manufacturing industry.”

This new funding is a significant step forward in strengthening the US clean energy supply chain. By increasing solar cell production domestically, Silfab is addressing the growing demand for renewable energy while also bolstering US manufacturing capabilities, creating jobs, and reducing carbon emissions. The “Excellent” rating for the Green Loan highlights the project’s alignment with sustainability goals, underscoring Silfab’s commitment to a greener future. This investment positions the company as a leader in reshoring solar energy solutions, supporting North America’s energy independence and resilience.
