SMART USA Launches First Request for Proposals

SMART USA, the newest institute Manufacturing USA created in January 2025, has launched its first request for proposals. This is an important milestone for the institute, which invites interested parties to participate in innovative projects. The call invites SMART USA members to submit collaborative proposals for technical development and validation of digital twins, as well as training and workforce development initiatives. Individual awards range from $500,000 to $20 million for projects lasting up to 24 months. The Institute encourages all interested organizations to prepare their proposals and participate in this exciting initiative.

Key points of the formal application:

  • Using digital twins to optimize basic semiconductor manufacturing processes
  • Digital twins for advanced packaging and co-optimization of system technologies
  • Validation of digital twins between semiconductor and/or packaging technologies
  • Democratization of access to community colleges and other workforce and community programs (Education and Workforce Development)
  • Creating a library of new and pre-existing content and training programs (Education and Workforce Development)
