By 2025, Stellantis projects double-digit sales growth in Mexico with the launch of up to 15 models and promises new investments for the expansion of the manufacturing plant in Saltillo, Coahuila, focusing on electrification that includes all available energies.
This was commented by Carlos Quezada, president and CEO of Stellantis Mexico, who also said that in 2024, the European automaker will make its mark in Mexico with the start of production of electric vehicles at its plant in Toluca, State of Mexico, where it invested 1.6 billion dollars.
In the first quarter of 2025, he promised, the path of electrification will continue with new developments at the Coahuila complex, which produces trucks and vans, as well as almost 1 million engines, for which a new member of RAM is expected to be announced.
“Stellantis is committed to Mexico and we want to continue investing in the country, since we have a high quality of manufacturing, we are one of the best plants of the corporation and the company wants to continue investing in Mexico,” said the CEO.
In addition, the automotive company is committed to invest in Saltillo, because “the Saltillo plants are among the best of the Corporation (Stellantis globally), we have a high quality manufacturing, the workers have great experience and we have everything to be very competitive,” he said.
The CEO of Stellantis admitted that the next year will be full of challenges such as the possible tariffs to the Mexican automotive industry that Donald Trump, the next president of the United States, threatens to impose, as well as the beginning of the review of the Mexico-United States-Canada Agreement (T-MEC).
