The U.S. group announced that it plans to install new cookie production lines at its Salinas plant in the northern state of New Leon. The food giant plans to decommission the nine lines at the outdated Chicago plant with four innovative lines at the Mexican plant. The project requires an investment of $130 million (€107 billion). Mondelez has already invested $600 million (€536 million) in recent years in plants located in the interport of Monterrey, Mexico's industrial capital not far from the southern U.S. border.
