Light vehicle production reached 224,913 units in December 2024, an increase of 4.17% over the same month in 2023. In the annual accumulated, it totaled 3,989,403 units, 5.56% more than in 2023, approaching the 4 million forecast.

The Mexican automotive industry closed the year with positive results in the production of light vehicles, according to INEGI's Administrative Registry of the Light Vehicle Automotive Industry (RAIAVL).

Light vehicle production reached 224,913 units in December 2024, a 4.17% growth compared to the same month of 2023. In the accumulated period from January to December, 3,989,403 units were produced, representing an increase of 5.56% compared to 2023, which is close to the 4 million unit mark.

Exports in December totaled 265,954 units, reflecting a decrease of -5.80% compared to the 282,316 units recorded in December 2023. Nevertheless, for the year-to-date, light vehicle exports totaled 3,479,086 units, a 5.40% increase compared to the same period of the previous year.

At the end of 2024, General Motors led as the OEM with the highest production and exports in Mexico, manufacturing 889,072 units (+23.0%) and exporting more than 830,820 units (+15.1%) during the year. Nissan ranked second, with 669,941 vehicles produced (+8.8%) and 456,866 exported (+24.5%). Stellantis ranked third with 419,426 units produced (-10.3%) and 353,307 exported (-14.4%). In fourth place was Ford, with 386,776 units produced (+5.9%) and 379,849 exported (+2.4%). Volkswagen completed the top five with 382,312 units produced in Mexico (+9.5%) and 326,217 exported (+4.6%).
