At the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, on June 17, 2025, Prime Ministers Mark Carney and Giorgia Meloni reaffirmed the growing strategic partnership between Canada and Italy. Their discussions emphasized shared priorities in global security, innovation, and economic resilience—with clear implications for the manufacturing and industrial sectors.

The two leaders reviewed progress under the Canada–Italy Roadmap for Enhanced Collaboration, highlighting joint efforts in artificial intelligence, critical minerals, clean energy, and defense. A new Canada–Italy Energy Dialogue will soon be launched to deepen cooperation on hydrogen technologies, critical raw materials, and both conventional and renewable energy—creating new opportunities for companies across the clean tech and industrial supply chain.

To expand bilateral trade and industrial ties, high-level business and investment missions are planned in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, defense, and advanced manufacturing. The leaders also encouraged continued collaboration in AI, photonics, quantum computing, and clean technologies—fields where Italian manufacturers and technology providers are well positioned to contribute.
