Mexico Manufactured Almost 4 Million Light Vehicles in 2024; Surpasses Record Set in 2017

The Mexican Automotive Industry Association (AMIA) released a report on light vehicle production, exports, and domestic sales at the end of 2024, based on information published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

The Mexican automotive industry closed 2024 with a historic record in both light vehicle production and exports. Regarding production, 3 million 989,403 units were reached, surpassing the previous record set in 2017. This performance represents an annual growth of 5.6% compared to the close of 2023.

Meanwhile, exports also set a record, with a total of 3 million 479,086 units shipped abroad. This figure surpasses the peak reached in 2018 and represents an increase of 5.4% compared to 2023.

Domestic sales reached the third highest volume in history with 1,496,797 units, representing a growth of 9.8% compared to total sales recorded the previous year.

These figures reaffirm the strength of the Mexican automotive industry, which is consolidating its position internationally as a key player in the production and export of light vehicles.

This performance confirms the industry's strategic role in the national economy, as one of the main generators of well-paid jobs, the main attractor of foreign direct investment, and a significant contributor to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
