The government of Nuevo León inaugurated the expansion of the export lanes at the Colombia-Laredo customs office, increasing from three to five lanes for both cargo and tourists. The work, which included the complete reconstruction of the road with hydraulic concrete, is part of an ambitious plan to modernize the border port.

Governor Samuel Garcia said: “This region is economically the most powerful and it was essential for Nuevo Leon to create this cluster and be increasingly connected to Texas. What better than our small customs office, which today already has roads and new lanes for trade to continue”.

The project includes several strategic works aimed at optimizing crossing times and safety. Among the main actions is the expansion of the export booths from seven to thirteen. In addition, the port's image was renovated with the construction of entrance and exit arches, a comprehensive service module was created for the paisano, and a housing complex was built for employees of the companies operating in the area.

Samuel García underscored the importance of road infrastructure in the growth of cross-border crossings. The modernization of the Monterrey-Colombia highway and the construction of the La Gloria-Colombia highway have doubled the daily flow from 3,200 to 6,500 crossings, with the expectation that this figure will triple in the coming years.

Marco Antonio González Valdez, Secretary of Regional and Agricultural Development, pointed out that this project has transformed Nuevo León's border from an underutilized customs office to the fastest and safest in the country. “By 2030, this customs has to reach 18 thousand daily crossings, consolidating us as the most important Cross Border Logistics City in Mexico and the United States.”

With these improvements, Nuevo León strengthens its strategic position as a key commercial bridge between Mexico and the United States, accelerating the flow of goods and improving conditions for cross-border tourism.
