Rogelio Garza, president of the AMIA, highlighted that this performance translates into an annual growth of 5.6% compared to the close of 2023.

He added that plant occupancy for December 2024 was 97.4% and from January to October of that year, 92.7%.

“These are encouraging data for the industry, which demonstrate the consolidation that little by little we have seen the integration of the industry and it is reflected in the data,” said Garza.

Regarding exports, he stated that last December 265,954 units were reported and during the whole of 2024, 3 million 479 thousand 086 units. 80.2% corresponds to SUV's and Pick Ups.

The United States continues to be the leader (in exports), almost 80%, that is, 771 thousand 287 million units, while 8.5% were sent to Canada and 3.6% to Germany,” he said.

He highlighted that, at the end of 2024, the reported production of hybrid and electric vehicles in our country is 169,929 units.

“Five models are manufactured in Mexico, which at the close of 2023, 106,527 units were manufactured, 59.5% in terms of growth in the production of hybrid and electric vehicles (in 2024),” he indicated.

In 2024, production of the Ford Mustang Mach-E was 53,904 units; 33,765 of the Chevrolet Blazer EV; 61,002 units of the Chevrolet Equinox EV; 4,762 of the Wagoneer S; and 16,469 units of the Toyota Tacoma.

“The outlook for the industry is good, it is a consolidated industry, a growing and strong industry,” he said.

He concluded that, in the sale of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles, the AMIA reported that 124,303 units were marketed in Mexico in 2024.

“Of those units represent 8.3% of total sales and of that 8.3, 74% are hybrids, 20% are electric and 6% are plug-in hybrids.”
